Human body is the combination of various factors. Vitamins and minerals are two very essential aspects of our body that are required to maintain a healthy life. You must have seen people who are overweight. These kinds of people gain access weight due to either poor nutrition or having over eating habits. In order to fulfill the required amount of vitamins and minerals in the body, people go for vitamin and mineral supplements. Taking the supplements in right way and right amount helps in reducing the deficiencies to a larger extent.
Getting more vitamins and minerals from food is always more beneficial than getting them from supplements. But it might not be feasible for every category of people, such as older people don’t take healthy food. Therefore, taking multivitamins that provide the necessary vitamins and minerals is always a good idea. However, it should not be a substitute for eating healthy diet.
Vitamins and minerals are essential for proper functioning of the body organs. Lack of essential vitamins and minerals in the body may lead to various kinds of diseases or disorders. Deficiency of Vitamin A in the body causes skin and eye dryness, makes eye sight poor, slows down growth and even the deformation of bone and teeth may also occur. While Vitamin B plays an important role in cell metabolism. Lack of Vitamin B1 may cause beriberi which is a nervous system ailment. Osteoporosis is the result of Vitamin D deficiency. Similarly, sterility is caused by Vitamin E.
Minerals are basically inorganic substances which are required for structural components of hard and soft tissues of the body that participate in various functions of the body. Recent research in biochemistry, nutrition biology and molecular biology has shown that elements like copper, manganese, cobalt, iodine, zinc, fluorine, selenium, vanadium, molybdenum and chromium play an important role in our health. These minerals are required in minimal quantity for vital biochemical functions inside the body. Moreover, minerals are essential for maintaining the immune system of the body. Thus, the deficiency of minerals in the body may lead to weak immune system which will lead to various kinds of illnesses and infection in our body. Minerals in the body are required to support our enzyme that helps in releasing the unwanted toxins from the body. It also helps in maintaining the volume of water and balances a lot of chemical substances. This is how it keeps the blood and tissue fluids neutral free from any toxicity. Thus, minerals are essential for building and maintaining of cells and thereby keeping a body healthy.
Finally, we can say that in order to live a healthy life, having a healthy body and mind is very essential. In order to achieve a healthy body and healthy mind, getting all the essential things in the body in a proper amount is necessary. Lack of vitamins and minerals in the body may lead to various kinds of health issues, such as weakness, dizziness, poor bone structure etc.
